Hobe Sound

Hobe Sound was named after the Hobe Indians, who lived in the area before European settlers arrived. The community has a long history as a center for agriculture and fishing, and today is a popular destination for tourists and residents alike.

One of the main attractions in Hobe Sound is its natural beauty, with a several parks and nature preserve areas to explore. The community is home to the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, which covers over 1,000 acres of land and is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including mangroves, pine forests, and a wide range of bird species.

The community is also home to the Jonathan Dickinson State Park, which offers a variety of outdoor activities. The park covers an area of more than 11,000 acres and is home to a variety of ecosystems, including pine flatwoods, mangrove swamps, and oak hammocks. There are several trails in the park for hiking and biking, and visitors can also enjoy paddling and fishing on the Loxahatchee River, which runs through the park. The park is named after Jonathan Dickinson, a Quaker merchant who was shipwrecked on the Florida coast in the early 18th century.
